The Radiocommunications (Radio-controlled Models) Class Licence 2015 (the RCM Class Licence) authorises the use of radiocommunications devices to control model aircraft, model landcraft and model watercraft under set conditions. It is due to sunset on 1 October 2025.
It is believed that the RCM Class Licence forms a useful part of regulatory framework, so ACMA proposed to remake it with minor changes.
Proposed changes to the RCM Class Licence:
– Improving definitions and cross-references
– Clarifying frequency ranges and EIRP limits
– Complying with standards, equipment rules and EME exposure limits
– Setting the commencement date
– Making consequential changes to the Equipment Rules
The consultation close date is 26 May 2025.
